Girard College sophomore Thelma Davies has been named to the 3rd Team All-American by MileSplit USA.

This latest accolade follows Davies' tremendous success at the 2017 national track and field championships in Sacramento, California and the 2017 New Balance Nationals Outdoor in Greensboro, North Carolina.

In Sacramento on June 23, Davies placed 5th nationally in the 100m, running 11.53s with a -1.5 headwind. She was the youngest athlete on the medal stand, as is often the case for this sophomore phenom.

On Saturday, June 17, she broke a 34-year-old Pennsylvania state record when she ran the 100m in 11:43. This performance occurred at the New Balance Nationals and earned her third place in the event.

Davies has been breaking records and making a name for herself in both indoor and outdoor track circles since she began competing as a ninth-grader.

She holds the record in Pennsylvania for indoor 60m, earned the title for the 200m indoor, and placed first in Pennsylvania Class AA for the 100m and 200m twice, once as a freshman and once as a sophomore.

Keep your eye on Davies as she continues to make everyone in the Girard College community proud.
